These light blocking strips for blinds are like putting a frame around the window

These light blocking strips for blinds are like putting a frame around the window.it does block the light along the sides and bottom of the window but four inches in from the string of blinds light still comes in and I dont know how you can fix that other than I use certains instead of the blinds. The packaging was done perfectly and delivered on time.

Pretty nice products

I think that that they are pretty nice. They look good. The instructions say to measure the height. But you also have to watch how close you install them to the blinds. Too close and it might be difficult to operate your blinds. But these brackets keep excess sunlight at bay and that makes for a cooler room.

Great for keeping out the light

Wow these work great for keeping out the light that comes in around the edges of the window. We got these with daylight savings time in mind as its nice to keep the light out of the room for movie nights or guests to sleep in.

Reduce light leakage around my shades

Blindify Light Blocking Strips made a noticeable difference in how dark my room gets. These side tracks significantly reduce light leakage around my shades, so the room feels much darker and more restful. They were super easy to install and cut to the exact size I needed — no hassle at all. For anyone trying to improve blackout performance without replacing their shades, I’d definitely recommend these.

Such Amazing inventions - Blindify light blockers

These are amazing inventions!! I put them around my bedroom window and when I closed my blackout curtains ..my room became a perfect cave. I get migraines so light of any kind is my enemy and up until now I couldnt figure out how to completely eliminate it from my sanctuary. I am so happy these strips worked, I cant believe it. Thank you, Blindify!

Great side tracks that block light

These side tracks are great for light blocking. The white color is not pure white so it doesn’t match my window trim exactly but I can live with it. There are no instructions but it is pretty self explanatory. There is adhesive backing on one side that you stick to the window trim. There are screws included that I guess you can use to screw into trim but I did not use that option. These are simple, straightforward solution to block the small gap of light that the blinds do not cover. I definitely recommend and plan to get more for my other bedrooms.

work well

I believe this product would work well. But I thought the light blocking strips were made paper or plastic. They are made of metal that is very sturdy. I cannot use these in our rv, wanted to block out light on the sides of cloth blinds. They are to large and heavy for my purpose.

If you're looking for complete blackout for a restful sleep these are for you! They were a bit long for what I needed but were easy to cut and trim. It would be a great idea to have a hacksaw I found that was the easiest way to cut these. They function perfectly next to my accordion blackout blinds. As you can tell by the instructions there's multiple ways you can install these. Really great price point for a great accessory that does not inhibit me using my accordion blinds at all. They almost are invisible and a white color when you do notice them. They are very very thick, durable white colored material. They look very sleek and part of the window opening.

Great addition to blackout blinds!

These were a bit of a struggle to cut, but after cutting a few cm in, I was easily able to snap it which was nice. They are easy to install and are absolutely perfect for my needs - it says they are side tracks, but it works on the bottom as well, which is where the light streaming in under my blackout blinds was still hitting me in the eyes in the morning. I have migraines and I'm a light sleeper so this was perfect for me!

Fit Perfectly

I ordered these light‑blocking strips in black for the bedroom windows in my cabins. We already have honeycomb blackout shades installed, but they were ordered a little too small and leave a gap on the sides that lets light through. I’m hoping these will solve that, and so far I’m really impressed with the quality. They look great right out of the package, the material feels sturdy, and I love that you can cut them to fit exactly. I haven’t installed them yet, but they seem like the perfect fix for those side gaps.

Shipped fast, well packaged.

Shipped fast, well packaged. Came as a pair with both self sticking strips and hardware mollies and screws if needed for installation. Order white nice weight if plastic. I will need husband’s help to install and will need to cut a little bit off to fit window.

Is not a completely blackout but it works to keep the room darker

It doesnt do a extreme blackout effect but it does help in making the room a little darker. Metal I had to use a metal cutter but it cuts relative easy. Installing was easy. It uses command strips like but I used nano tape and it was good too. Reason was because I made a mistake and had to removed it. After that obviously it didnt stick anymore. It also removed paint but is expected. It looks great and works fairly well. Im buying a second one.

Works, but there is no way "sturdy kitchen scissors" will cut it, literally or figuratively

I'm a super light sleeper, so I like to keep my bedroom pitch-black, and the light gap around my blackout curtains drives me crazy. I got these to address that issue.

First things first, these light blocking strips do their job well! They are an effective, simple solution. However, I cannot imagine what "sturdy kitchen scissors" (as suggested in the item description) could cut through these... they'd have to be made of adamantium, sharpened to a razor edge, and wielded by the world's strongest man! You will absolutely need a strong hacksaw or else a dremel-style tool to cut this to size. It is difficult enough to cut that it leaves a rough edge, so I'd also recommend sandpaper.

If you have the right tools to cut this to size, it's a perfect solution. Just don't go into this thinking regular scissors will do the trick.

Simple privacy fix if you're using blinds

These stick-on light blocking strips are easy to use and get the job done. They arrived in a long box, and each strip gives you plenty of length to cut down to the size you need. Just a heads-upyoull want to use a saw or proper cutting tool. Scissors might work eventually, but its a hassle, so save yourself the trouble and use the right tool.

Once installed, they do a great job of blocking that sliver of light where the blinds fall short, and they also add a layer of privacyespecially helpful if your window faces a public walkway.

That said, at the current listed price of $39, they feel a bit expensive for plastic pieces. I would have preferred to pay less, especially since you can spend a little more and just get blinds or curtains that fill the gap entirely. Still, these are specifically made for blinds and for the purpose I got them, theyre working well.

Expensive but Worthwhile

I didnt know these were a thing but it makes such a difference. The blinds that we got were just slightly too small and these cover the gap perfectly. They are just a little expensive but worth it.

Size was more than expected. Easy to cut with a small hacksaw. Fit perfectly on the sides of my blinds.

Effective and simple solution; but just short of elegant

Its a basic but reliable solution. Unless your shades are fully custom fitted, its likely theres some light bleed. This product arrived as 2 long strips. Its thinnish pvc so it was easy enough to cut with a good pair of heavy duty scissors. Then a little heat and/or sanding to clean the edge, if needed. Theres a generous enough amount of strip to cover most window heights, but of course we measured to be sure. Its no frills and doesnt blend the greatest, especially with soft curved edges. But it helps! 4 stars in that while its simple in many ways and resolves the issue for the most part, its more moderate than the value would suggest.

Thick, High Quality - and Really Hard to Cut

These would have worked great - if I could have cut through them. I have a 7 razor-tooth saw that I tried, and all I could manage to do was damage the white coating. Then I tried my cousins mini chainsaw - still only managed to damage the coating. (The picture that shows the line I drew shows the chainsaw damage.) Apparently, it just takes a lot of physical strength, or at least more than I have.

As you might guess from that, these are seriously heavyweight strips - 1/8 thick on the inward-facing side, slightly less on the outward-facing side - and very high quality.

The foam strips that hold them in place are permanent, BTW. I have something else with 3M tape that looks identical to this, and that thing is not coming down without doing damage.

FWIW, I can tell from holding these up to the window that they would have worked great, even though I accidentally got blinds that were half an inch too narrow.

I love the fact that theyre white on one side and black on the other. If you have light-colored blinds, you can put the strips in front of your blinds, white side forward, and if you have dark-colored blinds, you can flip the strips and put them behind the blinds, black side forward.

I definitely recommend them - if you have a good means of cutting them.

Great for swing shifters

I work swing shifts so i dont get up till around noon. I have learned over the years that i need to keep my bedroom pitch black. Its actually much harder than it seems since blackout curtains tend to let light leak around the edges. This product actually solves that issue for me and i love it. Its helped keep unwanted sunlight out and install was generally easy. Quality of the product was good too, not thin and flimsy. I used a small hacksaw blade to trim it to size, and then cleaned up the edges wiyh a deburr tool where i cut it. Worked well.

They work!

I had absolutely no idea something like this exists and was surprised to discover it. My blackout blinds are just a smidgeon too narrow for my windows, defeating the purpose of having black out blinds! These tracks reduce light leakage and make the gaps noticeably smaller. Its super convenient that you can trim them (my windows are an unusual size), and my boyfriend was able to install them in about 15 minutes per window. He needed a drill and a drill bit for the installation process. I was worried they would be flimsy because they are thin enough to cut, but they look and are very sturdy.

The first picture shows all 3 of my windows. Please note: only the center window has the side tracks installed. The second picture is a side by side comparison of one window with (left side), and one window without (right side) tracks. You can see the window on the right has way more light coming in. The third is a closer image of the window with the tracks, the fourth is a closer image of a window without tracks.

I only got one set in case I didnt like them, but they work so I plan to get more for the remaining windows. Ive removed a star because I feel like they make the center window look kind of busy or crowded (theyre not completely invisible), and Im one of those people who needs to be surrounded by a minimalist aesthetic. Also, my blinds are electric and they slightly appear to drag along the tracks as they move up and down, but the tracks do not significantly obstruct the movement or anything like that. You can only tell if youre looking and listening closely for the dragging. Overall I was pleasantly surprised by this strange yet useful invention.
