If you buy electric blinds or blackout curtains like we did (we got the another brand's ones), these light blocking strips are basically a must have. I can't tell you how much more pleasant it is to sleep once you install these on the windows. That annoying light leaking you usually get around the edges of blackout curtains is completely gone, just eliminated.
It feels like you're inside a photo studio because the room becomes pitch black even in the middle of the morning. It's amazing and I couldn't recommend these more highly.

The blockers themselves are pretty simple in construction and appear to be made of acrylic. One side is white to match your wall and the other side is black so they don't create reflections or anything like that. They come with double sided tape already installed and also include some screws if you want to reinforce the attachment to the wall.

I didn't feel the screws were necessary in our case since the tape was holding onto the wall just fine. Your situation might be different though. Some people might have weird window frames or situations where you'd definitely want to use the screws for extra security.

If you're reading this review, you've probably noticed there are tons of these light blocking options on the market. There are only so many ways you can block light from coming through, but these represent pretty good value for the money in my opinion.

Most importantly, the wife approves, which is probably the most critical factor when you're a husband making household purchases.
Other than that, I couldn't recommend them more. Five stars for sure. These really do make a huge difference in creating that perfect dark sleeping environment the wife loves, specially during her migraines.

Seems pricey at first, but the material quality is worth it

I'll admit, when I first looked at the price for these strips, I thought it seemed a little high for what looked like simple plastic. However, once I received them and actually handled the material, my opinion changed completely. The PVC is really high quality; it has the right amount of thickness and rigidity, so it doesn't flex or look cheap once installed. It feels like a permanent part of the window frame rather than a flimsy add-on.?I used these to block the annoying light gaps on the sides of my blackout blinds, and they worked perfectly. Despite being sturdy, the material was surprisingly easy to cut to the exact length I needed. The installation was straightforward, and the result is a much darker room and a clean, professional look. If you are debating the cost, the quality definitely justifies it.

Nice Strips

Nice Looking Light Blocking Strips. I got these because I wanted to darken my bedroom, as I sometimes will take naps during daylight hours and prefer it being dark. These strips worked well for blocking the light that comes in around the edges of my honeycomb blinds. Seem fairly strong and good value for the money. No cutting was required on mine.

Looks good and blocks the light coming around the blinds

I like these window blind light blockers for filling in the space around the blinds to more completely darken a room.Installation is easy as they have pre-applied 3M adhesive strips, so just need to trim to window size, clean the window frame and stick on. Screws were included as well for rough or uneven finishes.Looks good and blocks the light coming around the blinds as the backside of the blocking strips is light absorbing black.

Light blocking strips

These excellent light-blocking strips are well-made, sturdy, and have a beautiful glossy finish. They are easy to trim to the desired length, and the double-sided adhesive makes installation a breeze.

You have to cut it yourself

These flush perfectly against my window seal, they're easy to install and stick well. They did the job blocking the sliver of light between the shades. I feel like they're going to help prevent my dog from pushing the shades open from the sides (that's why the right ones so dirty)My only complaint is you have to cut it yourself. I wish it was like adjustable or had specific sizes. It's a hard plastic that we sawed but it also chipped a lot doing that. Luckily, the rigid end is covered by the shades up top

PSA: Check your windows before buying!

I was super excited for these to be made available to me and I knew they'd get grabbed up, so I ordered them immediately without looking at my windows. My loss, your gain, because PSA: CHECK to make sure you don't have flush windows like I do!!! If you have flush windows these will be useless. I do not fault the manufacturer for that at all, however. These are very sturdy and you'll want a miter saw to cut them to size; you definitely aren't getting through these with scissors. The reason I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5, however, is because I ordered white and they're only white on one side. If anyone is looking at your windows, they will see these gaudy black strips in conjunction with whatever part of your shade is pulled down or open. In my case, with an HOA, I wouldn't even be allowed to put these up even if they did work after all, because I can have nothing non-white in my windows anyway.Overall these seem well made, but the decision to make the white version only half white seems questionable at best to me, especially when other products with this same function don't do that.

A quick and easy fix to block out light around blinds and shades

If you work swing or graveyard shifts or need to block the light from a neighbors entrance lighting or a street lamp, these light blocking strips are exactly what you need. My guest room receives daylight around the window edges when my blinds are pulled down and it received street lamp light at night. I didn't want to invest in the high cost of replacing them with total black out shades because of the size of this window. These side strips were exactly what I needed and look how they blocked the light out. The first picture is at 4 pm with the shade down. I added the strips which were very easy to trim down to size and attach with the sticky tape. I am delighted with the outcome as these light blocking strips as I took the dark photo about 15 minutes after I attached the strips to each side and they blocked the side light coming through beautifully. A very affordable way to turn a window into a black out room beautifully.

Functional, greatly helps decrease light leakage, easy to install.

Hold well, helps block light seepage, easy to install.- 3M quality adhesive tape. Holds well, no fear of them falling off but make sure you get them on straight from the get go.- Thin enough to sneak them along side your blinds, but wide enough to cover pretty large gaps between blind and frame.- Deep enough that you should be able to open and close your blinds without issue.Cons:- Feels expensive for a few pieces of plastic and adhesive tape, but priced in line with competitors and actually on the cheaper side at the time of posting at $51 for 4 pieces.

Easy to Install and Worked OK... but Not Full Blackout - Removal is a Mess!

I got these because I wanted to darken my bedroom, as I sometimes will take naps during daylight hours and prefer it being dark. These strips worked well for blocking the light that comes in around the edges of my honeycomb blinds. Each piece is 58 inches long with a visible white front that's about 1 1/2 inches wide. The adhesive side is just under 1 inch wide. They are made from rigid PVC, not flexible, and the finish is a semi-gloss white. The color looks clean and bright out of the package.Install was easy. You peel the backing, line it up with the edge of the window frame, and press. The adhesive held well, and I was able to pull the strips off and reposition a couple times without damaging the paint. It also comes with screws if you want to secure them more permanently. I added a few brad nails inside the track for extra hold. I did have to get creative because my window is 71 inches tall. I used a full length piece on the bottom and cut a 13 inch section to go above it. A bit of white electrical tape helped cover the seam. The strips cut easily using a miter saw, but I think most cutting tools would work just fine. They look clean once in place but will be visible since the outer face is over an inch wide. If that bothers you, they could be painted. You'd need to clean and scuff sand them first, then use a bonding primer and a water-based paint. They worked fine with my honeycomb shades, and based on the description, should also work with roller and roman shades. Just make sure there's a little space between the window frame and the blind... if your setup is already tight, this might not fit. They do block most of the light from the sides. That being said, if the adhesive doesn't fully grip in a spot, light will peek through. And this set won't block light from the top or bottom, so it's not a full blackout.Overall, I'm happy with how these look and how easy they were to put up. But because they do not completely block out light when they claim they will, I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5.8/9/2025 Edit: Bumped down to 3 stars. About a week later some of the adhesive started peeling off, and while I could have easily pushed it back on, I decided to remove them, as they did not block enough light for me. That ended up being a mistake... took chunks out of my wall where the adhesive was still strong. So be warned, if you put them up, either don't take them down, or expect to need some drywall patching and paint.

Perfect compliment to blackout shades

If you've put up blackout shades you know the frustration when light still creeps in through the sides. This eliminates that! Simply measure, cut and install! It's that easy! Reminds me of installing wiper blades! It's a great value and improves the functionality of of your blinds. Fits perfectly!

My Windows Were the Real Problem Here

I really liked the idea of these blackout strips, but my windows had other plans. The inside of my frames are textured and a bit uneven (old house problems), so the strips just couldn't stick the way they're meant to. If your walls or sills are perfectly smooth, they might work great, but for older or uneven surfaces, they're probably not the best fit.

Helps to block the light

These work well to block out the extra light that comes in through the cracks. They seem to stick well, I will have to wait and see if it stays stuck. But for someone who likes it completely dark when they sleep, and doesn't want to get woken up by early morning sun, this works well to help with that!

Great for blocking side light

These blackout strips were exactly what I needed to stop light from leaking in around the sides of the blinds in our kids room. They're easy to trim and install, looks decent, and once they're up, the room gets noticeably darker, perfect for better sleep. They're lightweight but durable and works well, and I love that they can be cut to fit different window sizes. If you're looking to improve your blackout setup without replacing your blinds, these are a simple and effective fix. I think I will get more for the rest of my house, worth the price.

Seems good! Does not co!e with actual blinds

These blackout strips seem easy enough to put together and install, but I was a little disappointed to realize that they do not come with the actual blinds. I either missed this in the listing or it was not made clear, but the product is just the tracks or strips that block light along the sides of existing blinds. The materials feel decent and they seem like they would work well once installed, but it was frustrating to find out that I would still need the actual blinds to complete the setup. If you are looking for a full blackout solution, this is only part of it. That said, the concept is simple and the strips themselves are lightweight and manageable, so for someone who already has compatible blinds, they could be a helpful addition to reduce light coming in around the edges.

Effective

Very effective at blacking out the sides of my interior mounted roller shades. Visually they aren't very noticeable with the lights on, and the white color blends in somewhat with my white walls. PVC has some flexibility to it, so I was able to mount the strips along my slightly warped drywall window frames.
