Blindify blackout fabric is designed to block 100% of the light through the fabric itself. However, no standard roller shade can completely eliminate light around the edges of the window. Light may still enter through small gaps around the sides, top, or bottom depending on the mounting configuration.
For better room darkening, consider an outside mount, which allows the shade to cover more of the window area. For additional light control, light gap blockers or Side U-channels can help reduce light entering around the edges.
The backing depends on the fabric you select. Some blackout fabrics feature a light-colored or white backing to help reflect sunlight and create a clean exterior appearance. Check the individual fabric specifications for the exact backing color.
