How to Measure for Inside Mount
✅ Measure the Depth
To ensure a secure inside mount, measure the depth at the top of the window frame. This will help determine whether a flush mount is achievable—allowing the shade to sit neatly within the frame without protruding. Be sure to check the minimum depth requirements for your specific shade style.
✅ Measure the Width
Measure the width of the window in three places: top, middle, and bottom. This helps account for any irregularities in the window frame. Record each measurement, rounding down to the nearest ⅛ inch.
✅ Measure the Height
Measure the height at three points: left side, center, and right side. Round each measurement down to the nearest ⅛ inch. Use the largest of these three measurements as the final length for ordering.
Tips for Inside Mount
- Check Frame Depth: First, verify that your window frame has sufficient depth to accommodate an inside mount.
- Consider Your Alternatives: If there isn't enough depth, feel free to switch to outside mount or explore other product options that may be a better fit.
- Assess Frame Sturdiness: Ensure the window frame or casing is structurally sound and suitable for direct screw installation to support the hardware securely.
How to Measure for Outside Mount
✅ Check the Mounting Space
Measure the height above the window where the headrail will be installed. Confirm there is adequate clearance for securely mounting both the brackets and the headrail.
✅ Measure the Width
Measure the total width across the window from the outer edge of the frame. For optimal light blockage and enhanced privacy, we recommend adding 2 to 4 inches (1 to 2 inches on each side) to this measurement. Please use this adjusted width for your order.
✅ Measure the Height
Measure the full height of the window from the outer edge of the frame. To maximize natural light and account for the shade's stack height, we advise mounting the headrail at least 4 inches above the window frame, if space permits.
· Allow Extra Width
For optimal coverage and light control, extend the width of your blinds beyond the window trim. If there is no trim, we recommend adding at least 4 inches total (2 inches on each side).
· Create a Larger Look
Installing blinds outside the window frame is a great way to make the window itself appear larger, enhancing the overall feel and aesthetic of the room.
· Check for a Solid Mounting Surface
Ensure you have at least 2 to 3 inches of flat, solid surface above the window to securely install the mounting brackets.
· Use Projection Brackets for Moldings
If your window has decorative molding, consider asking us for L- iron brackets. These are designed to extend the blinds away from the wall, creating necessary clearance for a flush and secure fit.
